Professional Case Consultancy
You have a child in your setting who is not coping. Attendance is slipping, or they are dysregulated by eleven o’clock, or they are falling asleep in lessons. You suspect sleep is underneath it, but it sits outside what your team can take on.
This service is for you. I take individual cases referred by schools, nurseries, SEND settings, social care teams and other professional services, assess what is happening with that child’s sleep, and give you written recommendations your team can act on.
Please note
I do not deliver staff training, workshops, talks or presentations. This service is case by case consultancy on individual children only. If you were looking for training, I will not be able to help, and I would rather say that here than waste your time.

What it includes
- A structured review of the child’s sleep presentation, with consent from the family
- Assessment of what is likely to be driving it, including sensory and environmental factors
- Written recommendations the setting and the family can both act on
- Clear notes suitable for inclusion in your own records
- Where relevant, a view on what sits inside your remit and what needs a medical referral
Why sleep belongs on your radar
When a child is chronically short of sleep, what you see in the setting is rarely labelled as tiredness. It shows up as poor attendance, emotional dysregulation, difficulty focusing, slower processing, and behaviour that gets managed as a conduct issue.
That matters for how you fund it. Sleep deprivation is a non academic barrier to learning, which places it squarely within what pupil premium is intended to address. If you are a SEND setting, sleep is often already named in an EHCP or can reasonably be added, which opens a second route. For social care teams, the relevant framing is usually placement stability and parental capacity.
If you need help making that case internally, say so when you enquire and I will write the recommendations with your funding route in mind.
How It Works
Enquiry
Tell me about the case in outline. I will tell you whether this is something I can usefully help with.
Consent
Nothing proceeds without the family’s informed consent.
Assessment
Information from your setting and from the family, so both halves of the child’s day are accounted for.
Written recommendations
Sent to you, and to the family where consent covers it.
Follow up
Optional, and useful when a case is complex or slow moving.
Fees depend on the complexity of the case and are agreed in writing before any work begins.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you deliver training for our staff?
No. This is case by case consultancy on individual children only.
Can we refer without involving the family?
No. Informed consent from the family is required.
Can this be funded through pupil premium?
Sleep deprivation is a non academic barrier to learning, which is what pupil premium is designed to address. Whether it is approved is a decision for your setting, but I can write the recommendations so that the justification is clear.
Do you work with children who do not have a diagnosis?
Yes.
Can you attend a meeting about the child?
Yes, where that is useful and the family consents.
What ages?
